The IP Academy is the leading IP training institution in Singapore, providing skills and professional training in the field of IP. We are looking for a candidate to help IPA achieve its goal of carrying out IP education and training and contribute towards thought leadership, for IP capacity building in Singapore and the region.  Successful candidates will have the opportunity to shape the growth of the IP ecosystem, help to nurture the knowledge base of the IP professionals in both public and private sectors, work with leading IP industry figures, speak at leading IP events in Singapore and overseas, and network with the Who's Who of IP at international IP conferences.

Job responsibilities:

1. Conduct courses or facilitate workshops and develop curriculum in one or more of the following areas:
  • Patent Law and drafting at beginner and professional level
  • Trade Mark Law, Branding, Licensing & Franchising
  • IP Due Diligence
  • IP Management & Licensing
  • IP Valuation and Commercialisation
  • Technology Transfers

2. Opportunity to conduct research in one or more relevant areas of interest in the field of IP and publish updates, articles and papers in internal and external publications. 

Job requirements:

1. A recognized degree from a well-regarded university.  Advantageous to hold a postgraduate Masters level qualification. A legal qualification is ideal.

2. Knowledge of and familiarity with Singapore IP laws and practice, preferably in the area of patent law. At least 8 years of experience in the relevant field(s) such as 
(i) Senior associate/partner in a law firm or a senior lawyer in an in-house legal department; 
(ii) Registered Patent agent in a commonwealth jurisdiction;
(iii) IP professional (other than lawyers) in IP practice or IP business consultancy experience or with IP Management experience. 

3. Experience in lecturing on aspects of IP law and practice or training of professionals and executives in these areas will be preferred.

4. Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent presentation and public speaking skills, well organized and able to work in a team.
