Dubai Government to Train Public Officers at IP Academy Singapore

Dubai Government to Train Public Officers at IP Academy Singapore

On 17 April 2017, the Dubai Department of Economic Development and IP Academy Singapore entered into an agreement for cooperation in capacity building, knowledge transfer, and raising IP awareness. In particular, the agreement will see IP Academy develop and deliver customised IP training programmes for Dubai government officials.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) – the first between IP Academy and a partner from the Persian Gulf – was signed via video-conference by Mr Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO of the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development, Department of Economic Development; Mr Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, CEO of Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection, Department of Economic Development; and Ms Chiam Lu Lin, Executive Director of IP Academy Singapore.

As part of the MOU, training programmes will be developed and delivered by IP Academy to help participants learn about an intellectual property competency and workforce skills framework, as well as about effective intellectual property protection. These programmes will provide essential knowledge to Dubai government officials in IP policy and strategy management from the public sector’s perspective.

These initiatives are part of IP Academy’s ongoing efforts to broaden its reach as a leading centre for excellence in intellectual property education.
