IP Academy Singapore and SIM University to Jointly Deliver Online Training on Intellectual Property

On 21 April 2016, IP Academy Singapore and SIM University entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) committing to jointly develop a slate of online intellectual property (IP)-related training courses.

The MOU was signed by Associate Professor Wong Yue Kee, Vice President (Learning Services), SIM University, and Ms Chiam Lu Lin, Executive Director, IP Academy. Also present were Professor Tsui Kai Chong, Provost and Professor in Finance, SIM University, as well as Mr Daren Tang, Chief Executive of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore.

As part of the MOU, the first online IP course to be rolled out in July 2016 will be “IP Essentials for Business Strategy”. This foundational programme is meant to provide a basic grounding in IP law, upon which four advanced-level courses will build on.

This set of courses will be suitable for and relevant to students in Institutes of Higher Learning, professionals across all sectors, and individuals who are interested in acquiring basic IP knowledge.

Leveraging technology to reach out to local and regional participants, this initiative is part of IP Academy’s ongoing efforts to build IP capabilities through flexible, high-quality learning and development opportunities.
