Jason Loh.jpgJason Loh is the ex-Head of IP Group, ASEAN region, Panasonic Corporation. Recently, he left his senior role to pursue his aspirations in helping startups and promising companies in active leverage on IP to create the next unicorn. He is an advocate in growth strategy for active utilisation of intangible assets for private companies delivered through sound global IP strategies, IP monetisation, IP risk aversions, technology IP innovations and IP to business strategies. In 2016, he was named in IAM 300 as one of the world’s leading IP strategists.

Jason is an innovator, he formulates unique in-house methodologies for forecasting product and technology trends where he successfully predicted multiple industrial trends over the last 10 years. He is also an activist in business model innovations as well as design thinking process where he value add to his clients’ strategy advisories.

He joined Panasonic Singapore in year 2000 after graduating from King’s College London, holding a First Class Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Radio and Communication). Although Jason started his career with Panasonic as an Engineer, he had a diversified career which has taken him to a number of positions covering roles in technology R&D, business planning and IP. In the early part of his career, Jason handled 21 countries mobile handset technical compliance (communications standards, e.g. GSM, WCDMA) management with telecom network operators spanning across Asia Pacific and Europe. In 2003, he was appointed as an advisor for the mobile software development team in Beijing China and consecutively in 2004, appointed as advisor to Dailan China mobile handset system test centre.

Having gained an extensive knowledge in communications systems, Jason was asked to move over to the frontline of the Panasonic Mobile Communications company product planning department in 2005. In this role, he was the key personnel working alongside regional telecom network operators for the development and management of mobile communication technology requirements for Asia Pacific.

Jason was appointed to head a newly setup Global IP Frontiers (GIP) in 2006 where he successfully built a team of analysts experts to provide IP consultancy services supporting the global mobile patent licensing activities for businesses in USA, Europe and China. Progressively, his team grew from 3 to 15 members with several million dollars in revenue in a short time span.

In 2012, Jason took on an addition appointment as Head of Singapore Strategic Planning and Business Promotion Office responsible for revolutionising the R&D activities in to a world class technology centre supporting new business creation and at the same time kickstarted IP service offerings to local Singapore businesses for external growth. By April 2015, GIP was recognised by Panasonic as a valuable profit centric operation and Jason’s team was restructured to report directly to Panasonic IP Headquarters. His role was expanded to manage ASEAN regional IP Group for Panasonic’s regional companies and helping them leverage on IP for business growth.

In the same capacity, Jason is also the official IP trainer for Panasonic regional training centre, nurturing the next line of R&D leaders in innovative thinking and IP knowledge. Jason is a strategy specialist with expertise in technology, business and IP strategy formulation and has developed an unique in-house methodology for forecasting product and technology trends. He is a certified Patent valuation agent (USA) as well as a trained Edward Debono facilitator (USA) for high level strategic planning facilitation to top management. Jason has constantly received invitation as guest speaker for international IP conferences globally, sharing best practices on a wide range of IP topics covering IP monetisation, IP intelligence, IP Strategy and IP policies.
